THE TASHKENT WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL GROUP (TWIG) is a non-profit club that was formed in 1993 by a group of 15 expatriate ladies whose main aim was to support each other and any newcomers to the area in adapting to their new environment. Today the group has around 150 ladies from diverse nations and ethnic backgrounds. We meet once a month for cultural talks and there are other weekly activities. Our purpose is to create a safe place where we can respect and appreciate our differences, but strive to recognize and build upon our commonalities, promoting goodwill and cross-cultural understanding. We still maintain the original objective of helping newcomers to settle in and build their network. Our members also promote the development of social, cultural and charitable activities.
To become a member, you have to attend a General meeting, fill out the membership form. After receipt of your completed application the Board of TWIG will review and notify you about their acceptance of you as a member.
The monthly meetings are open to all members, and include a program relating to aspects of Uzbekistan society and culture or of multi-cultural interest. In keeping with the Club’s current interests, these programs include lectures, musical performances, and fashion shows. Our monthly meetings are in a Tashkent Hotel every 2nd Wednesday, at 10:30am.
If you would like to become more involved please attend a meeting and join our email list! http://www.tashkentwig.org
